While we continue to update our web content, wel'll be rotating the imagery on a this landing page to commemorate the individuals identified in the Robert "Lucky" Johns Slide Archive. This 12,197 image collection, donated to the PQHP by Lucky in 2013, records a bygone era of nascent lesbian and gay culture born and bred in Pittsburgh. This week we celebrate one of the more memorable faces, Hazel Van Horn. She was a House of Tilden socialite, known for her performances in the "Lavender Lads" revues, as well as her prowess in hair dressing and prostitution. A teacher and mother to younger trans women, Hazel lives on in the memories of her loving friends and family. In conversation with Hazel's surviving friends and relatives, we've learned about many things, but most easily conjured, is her steady drink order "Bourbon and Squirt, Bitch!" To you Hazel *cheers*
