Description
The Scott Noxon Collection contains material from the bars and nightclubs owned and operated by Scott Noxon, his business associates, and employees since the early 1990s. The collection includes materials which were produced for or by the clubs (posters, clothing, audio visual materials) as well as ephemera and paper documents generated by performers and patrons from roughly 1993 to 2012.
Scott Noxon (b. May 9, 1960) is a Pittsburgh nightclub owner and local philanthropist who entered the bar business by opening the Pittsburgh Eagle, a gay leather club on the Northside in 1995. The Pittsburgh Eagle was housed in a four-story department store turned hotel, built in 1902, providing separate floors for cruising, lounging, dancing, and performances.
In 2006, Scott purchased the downtown club Pegasus from David Morrow, the “M” in KBMD Inc., as well as the former “Sidekicks” (now “There Ultra Lounge”) but moved out of Pegasus’s 818 Liberty basement space in 2009 due to steep rent increases from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. The Pittsburgh Eagle closed in 2012 due to waning business and overwhelming costs.
While operating There Ultra Lounge, Scott has also been a great source support to the Pittsburgh Queer History Project, donating materials from Pegasus, The Eagle, and personally held materials to document the social world he has helped to steward since the early 90s.

Clothing: Includes 106 promotional t-shirts distributed to Noxon’s clubs by vendors as well as shirts created by and for various bars and nightclubs in the city. Digital photographs of these t-shirts are available.
VHS Tapes: 175 VHS tapes documenting performances and events at Noxon’s nightclubs, along with promotional video reels and promotional porn tapes. Tapes that were not commercially produced have been digitized and are available online. Please contact us for access to commercially produced tapes.
Posters: 367 promotional posters from Noxon’s clubs, primarily posters advertising monthly events hosted by the clubs.
